4×4 Super Duty Ford Truck Hub Assembly
Transcript:
When it comes to lubrication, one of the places you need to pay special attention to on a 4×4 Super Duty Ford Truck is the front hub assembly. On driven wheels, the hub includes a needle bearing that supports the axle shaft. When you’re working on these hubs, you need to be sure to lube that inner needle bearing with an NLGI Grade 2 wheel bearing grease, and if you remove the hub, you need to pay special attention to the seals. There are three of them on the axle shaft including one on the spindle.
If those seals don’t do their job and moisture and contamination gets inside the hub assembly, it won’t affect the wheel bearing, but it can cause problems for the needle bearing that supports the axle shaft. If the lube gets contaminated or the needle bearing runs dry, it can harm the axle shaft, which could create a dangerous situation. When you replace the seals, make sure they’re installed and lubed correctly, and that will help keep the bearings clean and avoid potential problems.
